Book Review: The Adventurer’s Guide to Successful Escapes

The Adventurer's Guide to Successful EscapesThe Adventurer’s Guide to Successful Escapes by Wade Albert White

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a wonderful middle grade story full of humor and twists! I was entertained and surprised while reading. I love humorous books, but some are too quirky and nonsensical for me to really enjoy. But not this one. This had laughs along with a great plot, and purposefully used cliches-and some cliches turned on their heads. The main character Anne is an orphan. That story line has been used so many times, but it really works in this story.

The world is unique: floating tiers in the “Hierarchy”, like a ripped apart earth with pieces floating around. You can travel/teleport with dragon fireballs!

It’s set far in the future, but mixes rugged style life with scifi/fantasy tech. Computers and robots are called Old World technologies, so that’s interesting too. I can’t wait to learn more about the characters and this world in future books!

Would recommend to adventure seekers, young and old. I think my 8 year old son will enjoy this too, even though it’s longer than the books he currently reads. The adventure and humor are sure to pull him in!
